As of about a week ago, I've decided to go "Flexitarian". I tried the whole vegan thing for about a week and a half and found the whole ordeal quite...tiring. At our university much of the food they serve is not vegan-friendly, so I found mysef eating massive amounts of fruits. This is not in any way a bad thing, but our school offers four kinds of fruits: red apples, green apples, bannanas, and if we're lucky, oranges. I've definately had my share of the ladder four. If the old apple addage is true, I won't have to pay the doctor a vistit for about a decade.
I didn't go vegan because I believe eating meat is wrong. On the contrary, I know meat is sustenance given to us by God Himself. It is true, however, that much of the meat offered for retail these days has come from farms where the animals were horribly mistreated. That IS wrong. We need to be aware of what kind of meat we are buying and how the animals were brought up.
Also, a lot of the meat we eat is packed full of hormones. Hormones!? I've more of those than I can handle at the moment thank you very much. With all that being said, I've gone "Flexy", meaning I will consume a diet of mainly organic raw foods, fish, and organic meat. Lately, I've been opting for soy milk instead of regular, though I wouldn't be opposed to drinking organic milk. Soy milk is acutally very good! You can get it in vanilla or chocolate. Both are scrumptious!
Drinking a ton of water is something I've integrated back into my diet. I don't think we realize how much water our bodies need every day. I know for me, I used to think I was always hungry, so I'd eat a snack, then another, then another to "fill me up." Well, my body was thirsty, not hungry. Drink water ladies and gents! You'll find yourself eating far less, feeling amazing, your skin will glow. You will have to take some extra trips to the bathroom as well...
Since going Flexy, I've noticed that I have a lot more energy and that my moods have been more stable, happier. I'll keep you updated on how the whole Flexitarian thing continues to go.
All my love xoxo,
